About George Filgate Photography George Filgate has been involved in photography as a photographer and teacher on both the East and West coasts of the United States. Operating out of a home based studio in Philadelpia, PA in the 1970's George's work covered wedding, portrait and product photography. George taught basic photography through the Philadelphia University City Arts League and as a Lay Teacher for the Philadelphia Public Schools Outreach program for high school students. After moving to Eugene, Oregon in the middle 1970's he became involved with Photographers Workshop, a community darkroom and studio. Here he became the manager teaching classes and workshops, jurying shows and taking care of day to day business activities. Today George continues his freelance work of weddings, portraits, magazine assignments and artist portfolios. He also works with performing artists creating portfolios from live performances and studio shoots. Upon request George mentors grade school students in basic photography skills.
